RAUL VILLEGAS, SR.

MARCH 10, 1939 – FEBRUARY 15, 2021

Mr. Raul Villegas Sr., 81, entered into the loving arms of his heavenly father on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Mr. Villegas, Sr. was a caring and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a great role model for his children and grandchildren. Many remember him as “The Janitor” from Santo Nino, where he worked for 40 plus years as the head custodian and before then as a bus driver for Lamar and Nixon. He also worked as a night security guard at Nixon for a number of years and was very devoted to his work and especially his family. Being the head provider to his family of 6 he never once complained and just kept moving forward.

During his final years he loved spending time with his children but especially his grandchildren who loved him dearly and will forever miss him, but never forget him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Raul Villegas, Jr.; parents, Eusebio and Angelita L. Villegas; siblings, Eugenio (Maria) Villegas, Flora V. Rico, Juan Villegas, Francisca (Jose) Mata, Maria Estela (Fidencio) Vela, and Antonio Villegas.

He is survived by his loving wife Hortencia Villegas; daughter Irma (Eduardo) Butron, sons, Gerardo (Lily) Villegas, Eduardo (San Juanita) Villegas, Javier Villegas, Samuel (Ana Alicia) Villegas, daughter in law Maricela R. Villegas, sister Celestina (+Roberto) Castillo, and sisters-in-law, Francisca Villegas, and Evelia Villegas.  He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday morning, February 26, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.  A Chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12 noon.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
