The world lost a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend when Mary Louise Gonzalez was called home on January 7th, 2021. Mary Louise Gonzalez was born in Laredo, Texas on February 22nd, 1957 to James Haynes Sr. and Frances Rose Gallagher. Mary Louise was the 6th of 12 brothers and sisters.
Mary Louise was mother to Juan Antonio “Tony” Gonzalez Jr. (Valerie), Alejandro Bernardo “Alex” Gonzalez and Catherine Rose Muñoz (Francisco). She raised her children with love and devotion in Laredo with her husband of 46 years, Juan Antonio “Tony” Gonzalez.
Mary Louise was beyond a devoted mother and grandmother, spending every moment available with them never missing an opportunity to attend their special events or just to sit and enjoy a movie. Not only a mother to her own children but she was often an honorary “mom” for most of her children’s friends. She attended events and spent time with their families, always lending a hand when needed.
Mary Louise was also a loving sister and cousin and would never miss an opportunity to spend time together. She cherished their large family gatherings and looked forward to their phone calls. Her family meant everything to her, they were her first priority and her reason for pushing through any difficulties she was faced with.
Mary Louise attended Texas A&M International University, where she earned a Bachelors in Business and a Masters in English all while juggling family life and being a full time teacher at Martin High School in Laredo. For almost 20 years she taught English, Reading, and College 1301 English for the LC Early College program. As a teacher, Mary Louise was determined to make a difference in her students’ lives. She enjoyed watching their growth and was never one to back away from hard work or a challenge. She will forever be remembered for her boundless energy, warmth, and kindness among her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, James Haynes, Sr., María Luisa Ostos Haynes, Cora Danilavez, Stephen Danilavez; parents, James Haynes, Jr. and Frances Rose Gallagher; in-laws, Alejandro Gonzalez and Diana Gonzalez; brother, James Haynes III; brothers-in-law, Alejandro Zùñiga, Jr. and Thomas Craig Bullock; and precious nephew, Stephen Joseph Tubb.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, three children, grandchildren, Alexa Danielle Gonzalez, Jacob Anthony Gonzalez, Noah Alexander Muñoz, and Olivia Rose Muñoz, siblings Cynthia Denise Haynes Zùñiga, Mark S. Haynes, Suzy Haynes, Robert Gerard Haynes (Apryl), Francine B. Pickle (Thomas “Bud”), Margaret Rose Spiser (Craig), John Michael Haynes (Diane), Annette Yvonne Bruetsch (William), Monica Irene Haynes (Charles Tubb), Richard Martin Haynes (Shannon), and Angela Christine Chapa (Oscar), Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday morning, January 29, 2021 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased & Rosary will commence at 10 a.m.
Funeral Procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Rite of Committal & Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.
Due to COVID19 concerns, the family respectfully requests that those wishing to attend the funeral services wear protective face masks and practice safe social distancing while attending.
