Yolanda Texas

Yolanda V. Kazen respected wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Friday September 29, 2017 at the age of 83.

Mrs. Kazen was an educator at Central and J.C. Martin Elementary Schools where she was a classroom and Special Ed. teacher whose loving and caring nature touched the hearts and minds of many children and educators for 41 remarkable years. Yolanda taught her students and family alike with unending love and dedication. Yolanda was exceptionally proud of her children and grandchildren, and instilled into them the value of diligence, honesty, virtue, and above all heart. She was a friend and mentor to many, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mike J. Kazen, parents Manuel and Adelfa Villarreal; parents-in-law Carlos and Julia Kazen; infant son Manuel Kazen; brother Roberto O. Villarreal,, sister and brother in law Marie and Philip Kazen, Sister in law Selma Gaylor and nephew Eddie Gaylor;

Yolanda is survived by her beloved children Adelfa Kazen, Mike A. (Sara) Kazen, and Anna Laura (Michael) Brewster; grandchildren Lauren and Michael Kazen, and Michael, Mariam, Gabriel, and Garrett Brewster. Her sister Janette (Richard) McDonough; brothers-in-law Bob Gaylor and Antonio (Josie) Kazen, sister-in-law Maria I. Villarreal and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive her.

A vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 departing at 8:45 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2219 Galveston St. for a holy Mass at 9 a.m.

Pallbearers will be: Philip Kazen, Jr., Oscar Kazen, Ricardo Saldaña, Michael Brewster, Sr., Michael Brewster, Jr., and Gabriel Brewster.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Antonio Kazen, Richard McDonough, Michael Kazen, and Garrett Brewster.

Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 3600 McPherson Ave.
