Williams Ueckert Sr.

William "Bill" Franklin Ueckert Sr., 92 years old of Laredo, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was born December 10, 1921, in Dallas, Texas to Herman and Leila Ueckert. He was proud to serve as a U.S. Marine "The Greatest Generation" during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. After serving his country, he was employed as a land surveyor for various companies throughout Texas. He was also a proud member of the Laredo Marine Corps League Detachment which provided him the opportunity to serve in various positions within the League. He was actively involved as a veteran in various local patriotic functions and ceremonies. Other activities he enjoyed were fishing and playing Block Dominoes with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elvira Trevino Ueckert and sons, Herman and Daniel Ueckert. Also preceding him are his siblings Francis Curtis and Lee Harold Ueckert. He is survived by brother, Wayne Ueckert and sisters, Mary Nell Knowles and Marie Lohre. Left to cherish his life are his loving children, Emilio (Elsa) Crawford, William F. (Dolores) Ueckert Jr., Leila Montes, Howard (Dolores) Ueckert, Richard (Rosa) Ueckert, and Terry Ueckert; Fourteen grandchildren, Emilio Jr., Carla, Eric, Jennifer, William III, Jerry, Esther, Jorge, Juan, Howard Jr., Christopher, Taylor, Spencer and Ryan, along with 9 great-grandchildren whom will forever remember his love of family and country. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6 to 9 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring @ Cortez. A sermon and eulogy will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. by Pastor Paul Harris of the First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.
