William Dickinson

Mr. William Dickinson, 81, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 14, 2020. He was born on July 26, 1938 in Laredo, Texas to Gregorio L. and Maria G. Dickinson. On June 9, 1962 he married the love of his life, Lillian B. Salinas Dickinson and had three wonderful sons.
William graduated from Martin High School in 1956 and was also a member of the 1956 All State Basketball Team. After graduating from high school he attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas from 1956-1958 on a Basketball Scholarship. He also attended Laredo Junior College from 1968-69 where he received an Associate’s Degree, and Pan American College (now known as Pan American University) in Edinburg, Texas from 1969-1970 where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
He received an Honorable Discharge as a Sgt. of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country from 1961-1967.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian S. Dickinson; his parents Gregorio and Maria Dickinson; and his sister Lucy D. Martinez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard William (Diana) Dickinson, Michael Edward (Jacque) Dickinson, Robert John Dickinson; grandchildren, Zachry Taylor and Bryce Elizabeth, Jessica Moore, Iliana San Miguel; brother Greg (Blanca) Dickinson; sister Margaret (Art) Dickinson Melendez; and brother Charles (Maria del Carmen) Dickinson. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
In observance of COVID restrictions, the funeral home visitation will be in accordance with state mandate of no more than 25% of funeral chapel capacity.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, May 17, 2020 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday morning, May 18, 2020 departing at 11:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Due to COVID restrictions as set forth by the Diocese of Laredo, a maximum of 9 people will be allowed as per decree.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Laredo City Cemetery.
