VENTURA R. MEDINA July 14, 1924 - August 16, 2014 On Saturday, August 16, Ventura R. Medina passed away peacefully at his residence, at the age of 90. Mr. Medina was born in Coughran, Texas on July 14, 1924 and had been a life-long resident of Laredo, Texas. Ventura was employed by the City of Laredo and retired after 21 years. He loved to hunt and enjoyed spending time with his family playing "Loteria." He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Ventura is preceded in death by his parents, Valeriano and Marcelina Medina; daughter, Teresa de Jesus Gonzalez; granddaughter, Cynthia Cruz; and brother, Jesus Medina. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Maria Magdalena Medina; children, Maria Reyna (Jose L.) Miranda, Lorenzo Antonio (Tomasa) Medina, Virginia Idalia Cruz, Luis Norberto (Sylvia) Medina, Ana Laura (Jose A.) Tristan, Thelma (Bryan) Heil, Brenda (Rey) Rodriguez; 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; siblings, Antonio Medina, Severiano Medina, Constancia Flores, Adriana Montemayor and Maria Perales. He is further survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will commence at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
