TSgt Joe Roland Covington, Sr., US Air Force, Ret., 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 02, 2017. Joe was a long standing and decorated veteran with more than 20 years of active service in our Armed Forces. He first enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952 and continued to serve his country until his ultimate retirement in January of 1972. He was stationed abroad in numerous countries which included Korea and Vietnam.
Joe continued on to civilian employment with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, faithfully working for 21 years until his retirement. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph M. (Jackie) Covington; mother, Annie Malone; sister, Manola; and by his brothers, M.G. and Coy Covington.
Left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife, Carolina P. Covington; children, Debbie K. Covington, Anna Michel (Matthew) Reichle, Sylvia V. Covington-Davila, and Joe Roland (Rosa V.) Covington, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew (Liza) Reichle, Jr., Justin (Esraa) Reichle, Cynthia V. (Alex) Maldonado, Sylvia Alysha (Albino III) Saldaña, Ernesto (Gloria Herrera) Davila, Jr., Dana A. (Xavier) Charles, Rhodale V. Covington, Rhonda V. Covington, Wesley Joseph Reichle, and Randilyn V. Covington; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as by his brother, Joe Baxter Covington.
The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, December 05, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, December 06, 2017; where a Chapel Service will commence at 9 a.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Veteran’s Section of the Laredo City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the US Air Force Honor Guard.
