Maria Antonietta “Tonie” Gamboa has been received in the Kingdom of God with loving arms and singing angels. Tonie passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family on Wednesday, the 29th of January in the year 2020.
Tonie dedicated her life to public service and touched countless people with her community involvement, philanthropy and religious outreach.
Tonie, an ordained Minister, was the founder of Women of Destiny Ministries and Chapel of Everlasting Love. Tonie proudly officiated beautiful and renowned wedding ceremonies, joining many loving couples in matrimony.
Tonie was the proud daughter of a three-war veteran, and was especially proud of her efforts as the director of the Laredo Honor Flights which enabled Laredo Veterans the opportunity to visit Washington, DC and its memorials.
Tonie was a driving force and served in various capacities as an officer, member, coordinator and volunteer with the following entities: Rotary Club of Laredo Under Seven Flags, Special Olympics, Boys Scouts of America, Women’s City Club, Pink to Do, Leadership Laredo, Doctors Hospital Chaplaincy, LRAUG, Jail Ministry, Laredo Chamber of Commerce, and Martin High School Class of 75.
Tonie fought the good fight and is now looking over us.
Tonie was ready to be joined with her loving parents Dolores and Antonia B. Gamboa, affectionately known by the family as “Papi Lolo” and “Mami Toña”.
Tonie is survived by her beloved children Arturo Limon II and Karina (Francisco J) Villarreal, grandchildren Krysta and Gavin Villarreal; siblings Juanita (Jorge) Zavala, Ramiro (Guadalupe) Gamboa, Javier (Felicitas) Gamboa and Gerardo (Marie) Gamboa; nephews/nieces Jorge Jr., Yvette (Joe), Mitchelle, Priscilla (Gilbert), Ramiro Jr. (Yvette), Jessica, Gabriel, David (Jasmine), Jennifer (Daryl), Rebekah (Joe), Gerardo Jr. (Amada), Jalyssa, and Isela (Jonathan); as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended nieces and nephews, plus many dear friends including Marylou (Richard) Buitron and Carol Gunnoe.
