Tomasa Garcia, 87, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2016.

Tomasa was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. On June 30, 1956, she married Valentin Garcia. She was a lifetime resident in East Chicago and Hammond, Indiana. She was a very successful business woman despite of her limited education, and owned a Mexican Artisan-Hierberia business for over 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Valentin Garcia, and parents, Cosme and Catalina Espinoza.

She is survived by her sons, Valentin (Alma) Garcia, Esequiel Garcia; daughter El Cenizo Chief of Police Veronica A. Garcia, daughter-in-law, Lizbeth Salinas; grandchildren, Valentin Garcia III, Jessica Denise Garcia, and Iris Isamar Garcia. She is also survived by Graciela Villarreal, a close friend of the family, and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Road from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary will be recited at 7 in the evening.

A Chapel Service will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at Joe Jackson North at 11:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Valentine Garcia, Esequiel Garcia, Valentin Garica III, Antonio Amaro, Ulises Salinas, Javier Vela, William Gil, and Manuel Flores.
