THELMA MARIE CABALLERO
October 31, 1955 – September 3, 2023
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
Thelma Marie Caballero, 67, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
Marie Caballero was born on October 31, 1955 in Laredo, Texas to Pablo Raul Lara and Julia Garcia Lara. Marie graduated from Martin High School and married her high school sweetheart, Eddie Caballero. Marie was widowed in 1989. As a woman of strong faith and resiliency, she raised her two daughters with unconditional devotion; she drove them to church as children and adolescents to provide them with a foundation for God's endless mercy, grace, and love. Marie was a daily steward for the Lord by her continuous bible studies, scripture meditations, listening to Gospel and Christian music, and through her church service. She believed in spreading the message of God's gift with as many people as possible. She had the heart and the passion of Christ, and was always the first to lend a helping hand to those in need. Marie was enamored to have worked for Dr. Gustavo Riddle for 20 years, when he went to be with the Lord, she continued to work for Dr. Renan Santos and Dr. Xavier Cantu in Laredo. Her unwavering motivation was to see patients who entered the various offices to leave healthier and happier. She was a firm believer in herbal medicine and respected the practices of John Ardnt.
Later in life, Marie endeavored to pursue achievement in her education and worked hard to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 2019. She was currently in the process of earning her Master's degree in Student Teaching. She loved her work as a substitute teacher and remote conferencing at U.I.S.D. She spent several years assisting as local coordinator for exchange students from Russia, China, Switzerland, Jerusalem, Korea, France, Germany, and many other countries from around the globe. She enjoyed to expand and diversify their cultures and education from the beautiful lessons Laredo has to offer.
She could always be found reading the Bible and watching the Victory channel with Kenneth Copeland. She had a great love of all of God’s animals, especially her cats, Maui and Morris. Marie enjoyed bowling and was part of a local team here at Jett Bowl North. She also was very active and believed in staying fit, she enjoyed walking the local parks, scheduling activities and outings with her daughters, and going to the beach. Marie was known to be adventurous and loved to travel, she visited many destinations around the world and was looking forward to adding more journeys to her list. Among her favorite places to visit was Prague, the Galapagos, and Buenos Aires.
During her final days, she remained steadfast to her bible readings and meditations. She wanted everyone to have faith and full belief in God’s promises; the word of God is life, love, and truth, He will never fail us, nor will He ever leave us. She loved her family and her friends dearly. Marie's everlasting life will remain with us, she was and always will be our Guardian Angel.
She was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Eduardo “Eddie” Caballero; her parents, Pablo Raul Lara and Julia Garcia Lara; her siblings, Velma Solis, Lauro “Larry” Lara, Antonio “Tony” Lara, and Jose Pablo Lara; great-grandmother, Antonia Siller; her parents, Pablo Raul Lara and Julia Garcia Lara; and her first cousins, Antonieta Tellander and Anna Lara.
