SYLVIA SOLIS HINOJOSA April 23, 1938 - March 09, 2014 Beloved wife of 58 years, devoted mother to five children, and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Sylvia entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 09, 2014 in the presence of her family. She was born in Laredo to Candelario and Jesusita Solis and was the sixth of nine children. Shortly after graduating from Martin High School, class of '56, she met Genaro Hinojosa, the love of her life. They made their home on a small farm off Mines Road where they created many memories raising their children, spending time with family, and growing old together. Sylvia was a beautiful, strong, and hardworking woman who had many talents. She cooked delicious meals, sewed her children's clothing, and delighted her family with her wonderful holiday celebrations. She had a flair for style, a great sense of humor, and was a true friend and confidant. She enjoyed traveling, listening and singing to music, dancing flamenco and playing the castanets. A devout Catholic, she selflessly cared for the sick, poor, and needy. Beautiful and strong to the end, she is deeply missed and lives in our hearts forever and always, always and forever. Relatives and friends are invited to join us for her visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will be celebrated by Msgr. Tom Davis at 8 p.m. Funeral procession will depart on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery.
