September 7, 1929- November 29, 2023

Socorro Barrera, 94, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Socorro will always be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She was generous, loyal, and brave. She found joy in taking annual beach trips, playing cards, loteria, and hosting family gatherings. She was a woman who lived by her faith and attended Blessed Sacrament Church. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary was always present in her life, even in her last days. Socorro leaves behind countless memories with those whom she loved. We would like to thank Socorro De La O for caring and loving her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hector H. Barrera; her sisters, Bertha S. Garza, and Paula Fuentes.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Elsa A. (†Cesar) Gutierrez, Jr., Hector H. (Nelda) Barrera, Jr., David D. (Annie) Barrera, and Della Barrera (Gabriel Rubio); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Belia Sandoval; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and chapel service will commence at 10 a.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2023 departing at 10:45 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Joel Daniel Barrera, Brandon Barrera, Armando Gutierrez, Edward Ochoa, AJ Gomez, Daniel Gomez, Joseph Barrera, and Alex Barrera
