Silvestre Diaz

December 31, 1935 — May 11, 2013

Silvestre Diaz, 77, of Laredo, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Silvestre was born in Tilden, Texas on December 31, 1935. He was a great grandfather and father to his four grandchildren and three daughters. Silvestre enjoyed being at home surrounded by his grandchildren. Some of his most common hobbies consisted of watching war movies, with a big bag of popcorn accompanied with a soda pop. Along with telling stories, listening to 50s and 60s oldies music and most importantly dancing. Silvestre had a great personality and many friends. There was never a time where he was not sociable or ever not smiling. Along with his outgoing personality and not being able to stay at home after retirement, Silvestre worked at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Bob Bullock Loop and Clark Blvd. as a greeter for 6 years having enjoyed a wonderful tenure in which his personality and very easy going and talkative self-traits were highlighted.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Isaura Diaz; parents, Roberto Porfirio and Maria Jesusa Diaz; sisters, Edelmira D. Cantu and Irma Solis; and brothers, Braulio and Amado Diaz.

Silvestre is survived by his three daughters, Laura (Mike) Moretti, Elsa (Jorge) Trevino and Leticia Diaz; four grandchildren, Ashley, Tommy and Kimberly Moretti and Katherine Diaz; brother, Joe Jose Diaz; and four sisters, Josie (Hugh) Aiken, Esperanza (Arnulfo) Tamez, Patricia (Oscar) Ochoa and Ana (Bill) Deremus.

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Dr. Benson Huang, Dr. Jennifer Duarte (Pharm D), Jackie Valdez, R.N., Vicenta Gutierrez, R.N., and Leticia Paredes, R.N. for their support and encouragement throughout his stay at Laredo Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Moretti, Tommy Moretti, Jorge Trevino, Rick Trevino, Alfredo Mancillas and Brian Martinez.
