SILVERIO AMADOR MARTINEZ
April 30, 1938- November 17, 2023
Silverio Amador Martinez, 85, was called by our Lord on Friday, November 17, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his four children and his immediate family while praying the rosary of our Mother Mary.
Silverio was born the oldest of five children to Silverio Martinez and Antonia Benavides Martinez on April 30, 1938. He is a 1957 graduate of Martin High School. He is a proud veteran of the United States Army. After dutifully serving his country he returned to Laredo, Texas – his beloved hometown – where he married his beloved Eufemia Magana Martinez. Their loving union produced four children: Elsa (Luis) Dominguez, Norma (Jaime) Gonzalez, Alma (Carlos) Garza, and Silverio A. Martinez, Jr. (Amely). He was always a strong Christian example to his children and those around him and worked hard to make sure they, and eventually his grandchildren too, were taken care of and felt loved every day.
Silverio retired from AEP / CP&L electric company after working there for over twenty years. He is best known in his community for his devout service to San Luis Rey Catholic Church where he served for more than thirty years in any way called upon, but mostly in the capacity of eucharistic minister.
Silverio’s passion was his faith, his family, and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved the time he spent with his sons-in-law, his son, his grandsons, and his friends at the ranch. He was greatly respected and adored by his family who will miss him immensely.
Silverio has two surviving siblings – Rosenda Mendiola and Hector Martinez. He is preceded in death by two other siblings – Raquel Gage and Javier Martinez.
His grandchildren are Luis, David, Christina, Alyssa, Amanda, Alexa, Andrea, Corina, Carlos, Rebecca, Abigail, Ana, Silverio Andres, Alejandro and Amely.
