Sergio Ponce Rodriguez

Sergio Ponce Rodriguez, 78, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

With great struggle and tenacity, scathed and frail, Sergio overcame a hit and run vehicular/pedestrian accident. He also endured a long battle with high blood pressure, ultimately leading to kidney failure. Sergio was a longtime resident here in Laredo eventually becoming a naturalized citizen in 1993. He was a jack of all trades becoming a master of many. His offspring and grandkids learned the meaning of being assiduous from both our parents, particularly with Sergio always being engrossed on one thing or another.  “Thank you, Dad for among many things, teaching us how to fend for ourselves.”

Sergio was predeceased by his beloved son, Eric A. Ponce; mother-in-law, Consuelo A. Martinez; ex-Father-in-law, Heriberto Martinez; and sister & brother-in-law, Dora (Jacinto) Alanis. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 57 years, Yolanda Laura; daughter, Yvette Rodriguez; grandson, Sergio A. (Jennifer); great-granddaughter, Olivia Rodriguez; son, Sergio A. Ponce, grandsons, Sergio, Angel, Ramiro, and Rene Ponce; granddaughters, Erica (Michelle) Ponce and Sofia Ponce; daughter-in-law, Llana Ponce; father-in-law, Abelardo (Nora) Talamantes; sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Bruno) Felix and Bertha (Armando) Casillas; and brothers-in-law, Heriberto (Adriana) Martinez, and Steven and Michael Talamantes. He is further survived by special nieces, Melissa (Eduardo) Lugo, Jackie (Sergio) Vasquez, and Mildred Y. Alanis; along with many other family relatives, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will be receiving condolences tomorrow morning, Friday, December 30, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 12 noon.

Private Cremation Services will be held at a later date.
