It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sergio Gerardo “Keko” Benavides, 68, who joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Sergio was a beloved husband, father, and respected member of the community. Born in Laredo, Texas, on August 31, 1956, he lived a life filled with dedication to his family and his work in the cattle ranching industry.
Married for 44 years to his high school sweetheart, Anna Lydia “Bell” Ramon Benavides, their love stood the test of time, embodying a commitment and devotion that served as an inspiration to many. Sergio was a fourth-generation cattle rancher and a self-employed businessman, upholding a proud family tradition with unwavering integrity.
Throughout his life, Sergio was actively involved in various agricultural organizations, including the National Beef Checkoff Board and the Texas Farm Bureau, where his passion for the industry and commitment to excellence shone through.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armando and Arabella Laurel Benavides.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Anna Lydia “Bell” Ramon Benavides; sons, Sergio Gerardo (Annalicia) Benavides, Jr., and Horacio Ramon (Kayla) Benavides; granddaughter, Maia Elizabeth Benavides; grandson, Cristian Andres Benavides; as well as brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, September 8, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, September 9, 2024 departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
