Sara Alicia Gutierrez Perez, 71, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
Ms. Sara Alicia Gutierrez Perez was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a remarkable social worker who helped an innumerable number of families in over 45 years of service. She was a graduate of Nixon High School and worked for the Texas Human Resources Department for 30 years and for the United Independent School District for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Ricardo Gutierrez, and her mother, Alicia Gonzalez Gutierrez.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children Valentin (Nereyda) Perez III and Diana Laura (Manuel) Perez Jimenez and grandchildren Valentin Perez IV, Enrique Mauro Perez, Mia Valentina Jimenez and Mila Dianita Jimenez.
Sara will forever be deeply missed by her brothers and sisters, Diana Laura Gutierrez, Maria Ofelia (Antonio) Medina Jr., Jose Ricardo (Melinda) Gutierrez, Jr., Maria Eugenia “Queña” (Emigdio) Lugo, Olga Irma “Gogi” (Susan) Gutierrez, and Carlos Armando (Irasema) Gutierrez.
She is survived by her eight nieces and nephews, being Iliana M. (Anthony) Chandarlis, Alysia (Curtis) Medina Johnson, Angela M. (Cindy) Bautista, Estevan E. Lugo, Carlos A. Gutierrez, Jr., Monica A. (Tristen) Settles, Mateo G. Lugo, and Cristian A. Gutierrez, and four great nephews, namely Orion G. Chandarlis, Apollo A. Chandarlis, Tristen A. Settles Jr., and Nathaniel J. Settles.
Sara is also survived by other relatives, and many very special friends including Tere Velazquez, Eva Gonzalez, Marta Walker and Virginia Wirsching (†).
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday morning, August 5, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 9 a.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, August 5, 2022 departing at 10:15 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel R. Jimenez III, Valentin Perez IV, Enrique M. Perez, Jose R. Gutierrez Jr., Carlos A. Gutierrez and Enrique Saenz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Valentin Perez III, and many more, including the many nephews and nieces that she was so proud of.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. Fermin Romero, Dr. Alfredo Camero, Dr. Pradyumna Mummady, nurses Laura Herrera and Luis Monroy for their compassion and dedication at the Laredo Medical Center.
