SANTIAGO ALFONSO (PONCHO) GARZA

Born in Laredo on July 14, 1932 to, and preceded in death by his parents, Arturo A. and Elvira C. Garza.-He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elvira E. Garcia, and brother, Arturo H. Garza.-He is survived by his sister, Olga G. Salinas, and numerous relatives.

Poncho was a self-employed accountant providing accounting and tax services.-Up to his death, he enjoyed maintaining and supporting the business started in 1967.-He served stateside and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.-Ever the optimist, he was always quick with smile, joke or "dicho" and was never shy to express his opinion.-Further, he was a deeply faithful Catholic who enjoyed discussions over a cup of coffee.

He was very proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to and provide input to his client's businesses.-Further, he enjoyed working together with several clients who emigrated from Mexico as they worked hard to achieve their goals and grow prosperous businesses.-

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Adelaida (Lely) Garza, children Sandra E. (Eddie) Giddens, Jose A. (Dina) Garza, Roberto A. (Laura) Garza, Cynthia M. Garza (Guillermo Lopez), Patricia A. (Guillermo) Castillo, and Eduardo E. (Gabriela) Garza.-His grandchildren were Elizabeth and Christopher (Brittany) Giddens, Isabella Rae and C.J. Garza, Alejandra and Nicky Lopez, Michael and Nicole Banks, Arturo and Alfonso Garza, Guillermo and Marco A. Castillo and Eduardo A. Garza.

Poncho and the family would like to extend a special gratitude to Dr. Alejandro Pruitt, Dr. Ronald Drengler, Gail Hutzler and Monica Tapia, as well as the G.I. Surgical team at Methodist Endoscopy Center for their friendship, care and support.

Pallbearers are:-Guillermo Castillo III, Christopher Giddens, Carlos Garza, Rick Portugal, Jerry Garza, Gilberto Garcia, Jr., Roberto Salinas, C.J. Garza, Marco Castillo, Nicky Lopez, and Michael Banks.

Honorary Pallbearers are:-Ricardo Aguero, Gregorio Martinez, Delfino Garcia, Frank Staggs, Wallace Guerra, Dr. Julio Madrigal, Antonio Garcia, Armando Villarreal, Pablo Valdez, Dr. Francisco Pena, Edmundo Ramirez, and Gilberto Garcia.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be provided to Sacred Heart Children's Home, 3310 South Zapata Hwy., Laredo, Texas 78046, (956) 723-3343.
