SAN JUANITA C. VEGA

OCTOBER 3, 1947 – APRIL 26, 2020

San Juanita Castro Vega joined her heavenly Father on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her residence, having been lovingly surrounded by all her family.

San Juanita Castro Vega was born in Fremont, MI, and at months old was brought and raised in Laredo, TX. She was a Martin High School Graduate Class of 1968. Many knew her as a very devoted Catholic lady, always very humble, kind and loving member of her parishes; The Santa Cruz Mission and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Since her teenage years she was always incredibly involved in the church and to many their favorite catechist teacher. She worked for many years at Alfredo Santos Groceries, Cavazos Insurance, La Posada Hotel, and she was a migrant farmer worker. She later married her loving husband on December 26, 1979 and later gave birth to her loving children. She was an extraordinarily strong and endured many life and death obstacles with her beloved children and grandchildren, but since she was a woman of big faith, God got her through every single one of them. She was like no other with a contagious smile, she would always be known to many and accepted everyone's children as her own and was known as Mom and Nana.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Isabel Munoz Castro, father: Alfredo Castro, sisters: Maria Castro Gonzalez and Alejandra Castro Lopez.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 40 years Mr. Juan J. Vega, her 3 miracle children: Juan A. Vega, Rita I. Vega and Armando R. Vega (Itzamara A.Vega),  her precious grandchildren: Kayleen R. Vega, Briannah K. Vega, Alfredo J. Vega, Nicholas J. Vega, Rhianna D. Vega, Alejandro E. Vega and Kamila I. Vega. Also, her sisters: Rosa Barajas and Apolinaria Hernandez, brothe: Manuel A. Castro (Hilda Castro), nieces, nephews, longtime friends, God’s children and to all those whose Nana she became.
