Ruben Martinez Jr.

Mr. Ruben Martinez Jr., 63, entered into the eternal kingdom of heaven on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ruben served in the US Marine Corp and later worked for the Webb County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff for over 30 years and was actively working until his death. He leaves behind many cherished memories not only with his family but with his co-workers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Guadalupe Martinez; and sister, Anna Laura Falciola.

Ruben is survived by his beloved wife: Irma Martinez; daughter Erica Martinez; sister: Sylvia Sapien; nieces and nephews: Nicholas A. Sapien, Matthew A. Sapien, Samuel A. Sapien, Angela Falciola and Ricardo Falciola. He is further survived by his many friends at Webb County Sheriff’s Department.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary will be held at 7 in the evening.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017, departing the funeral home at 8:00 a.m. to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass at 8:30 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Nicholas A. Sapien, Arturo Casarez, Robert Casarez, Rogelio Martinez, Alberto Bertani, and Christopher Landin.
