September 15, 1943 – August 19, 2017

Roy Lee Johnson, 73, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 19, 2017. He was born in Sabinal, Texas but was raised in Del Rio, Texas where he attended school and graduated from high school. While in high school, he enjoyed playing football.

He married and had two children, Sherry and Stacey, while residing in Laredo, Texas. Roy later remarried Carole Clark, and two stepsons, Darren and Michael.

After a 54 year career with the electric power generating industry, he retired in 2016 where he and Carole resided in Robstown, Texas.

Roy is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Eugene Johnson; mother and stepfather, Lela and Myron Potts; brother, Bobby Johnson; and son, Michael Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carole Clark Johnson; daughter, Sherry Johnson; sons, Stacey (Carmen) Johnson, Darren Clark; grandchildren, Justine Estevis, Mike and Ryan Johnson, Evan and Clay Clark, and Reagan (Dylan) Eaton.

Papa Roy was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren.

His family is very thankful for the medical care that he received from the Altus Hospice medical and nursing staff. The family is especially thankful to Katy Hernandez, Elena Salinas, Cheryl Crawford, Corina Lopez, and Elodia Albiar for their love, kindness, and care that they provided him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Saturday 09, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Prayer service will commence at 11 a.m.

Interment will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery.
