Rosario Garza

The Heart and Strength of our family - our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Maria Del Rosario Garza Ruelas went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the age of 84. Our mother was born in Tamazulita Jalisco, Mexico on October 6, 1929. Rosario is preceded in death by her brothers, Octaviano, Rafael, Jose, Jesus; as well as her sisters, Maria Del Carmen and Socorro; all whom immigrated to the U.S. One of her proudest achievements was becoming a U.S. citizen. Our mother was a woman of great faith; she had a great devotion to the Virgin Mary. Our mother was instrumental in establishing our faith in God. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and assisting the less fortunate. She sold AVON for several years where she was recognized many times for her top sales. She also diligently worked as a sales associate for well-known department stores such as El Rio Family Center, Hachar's, and Richter's. After her stroke in 2009, her son Robert remained devoted at her side and was her primary caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Juan Garza; as well as by her children, Juan Manuel and Miguel Angel. She is survived by her 10 children, Robert (Virginia) Garza, Andy (Regina) Garza, Patricia (Frank) Lopez, Luz Elena (Juan) Martinez, Rebecca (Raymond) Litman, Daniel Garza, Juan (Ruby) Garza from Corpus Christi , David (Laura) Garza from California, Estela (Charles) Eller and Josie (Calvin) Warden both from San Antonio; brother, Agustin Ruelas; 25 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In celebration of her life, a visitation was will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Vigil will be celebrated at 7 in the evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Family respectfully requests all attending to meet at church. Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
