ROSA GUADALUPE VELA November 27, 1931 - February 26, 2015 Rosa Guadalupe Chavez de Vela, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015. She has gone to join the love of her life, Francisco Vela Jr.; her beloved son, Paco Vela; parents Mario and Herminia Chavez; as well as her siblings, Ana Maria Gonzalez, Mario Arturo, Gabriel, and Antonio Chavez. She was born in Laredo Texas on November 27, 1931. She lived at 106 E. San Jose St. for most of her life. Rosita, as she was known to her friends and neighbors, touched the hearts of all who knew her. She could be counted on to extend a compassionate helping hand whether to tend to a wounded knee, or an aching heart, trim someone's hair, or offer a place at her table. Her home was always filled with children, her own along with their friends, or her nieces and nephews, and her kitchen always filled with delicious smells. She was a wonderful homemaker and dedicated mother who understood each one of her nine children, and always knew exactly what each one needed. Her life's success can be measured by the love she inspired in all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by her surviving siblings, Alberto Chavez, Herminia Cantu, Gerardo Chavez; her children, Laura Grayson, Herminia Lopez, Virginia Rangel, Marcela Vera, Rosa Vela Sachs, Gabriela Gamez, Mario H. Vela, and Christina Vela Flores; her eighteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sons in law, Rolando Vera, Miguel Gamez, Byron Sachs, John Flores and Agustin Rangel and her many nieces and nephews.
