Loving wife, supportive mother, and dedicated grandmother Rosa Maria passed away to join her family in Heaven.

Rosita, as she was known by most of her friends, was born and raised in Mexico City, D.F., the daughter of Jose Maria and Maria Luisa Barrera.-

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Alberto J. Barrera and Elsa Irma B. Rosas.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carlos H. Arguindegui, children Maria Regina (Gina), Carlos, Jr., and Rebecca M. Lewis, son-in-law Mark Lewis, granddaughters Gabriela I, Elsa L, Adriana M. Arguindegui, Claire E and Marina Lewis; brother-in-law Peter R. Arguindegui, Jr., (Ethel), sister-in-law, Maria Teresa A. Regnier, as well as cousins Renato Zapata, Jr. and Mariangela Z. Holiday of Laredo, Guillermina Martinez of Mexico City and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prior to her marriage, Rosita was educated in Mexico City at the prestigious Colegio Aleman Alexander von Humboldt and the Jesuit Universidad Iberoamericana.-Later she was employed by Proctor and Gamble de Mexico and underwent training in Canada before returning to Mexico, where she achieved junior executive status.

She married in 1959, and moved to Laredo, where she raised her three children, then furthered her education at Laredo State University attaining a BS in Mathematics and Master's degree in Education, being certified to teach Mathematics and Chemistry.-Preferring Math, she went on to teach at secondary level for 20 years at Martin High School, retiring in 1994 and became a member of TSTA.

A devoted Catholic, she took great pleasure and solace in prayer, being a regular attendee of the Adoration Chapel at St. Patrick Catholic Church and traveling to various pilgrimages both in the U.S. and Europe.

Rosita had great many cultural interests, being a lover of opera, theatre and traveled throughout Europe.-An avid reader with a keen interest in history, she was a member of the Book Club, which has been in existence for 35 years, the Luncheon Club, and her close-knit circle of friends' birthday club.-Rosita enjoyed gourmet cooking and playing cards (canasta) and particularly loved spending time with her five granddaughters.-For numerous years she hosted Christmas Eve Open House for family and close friends, where regular guests relished in her famous chicken tamales.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Road from 5 to 9 in the evening.-A Rosary will be held at 7 in the evening.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church for A Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m.
