Heaven has gained an angel. Romeo Salinas, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 08, 2017. He went peacefully and at 90 years old saw things and lived through more than we can imagine. Romeo was a WWII Veteran and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy. He was part of the greatest generation. After serving in the military, he went on to have a career with the department of defense at the Laredo Air Force Base and Kelly Field until his retirement.

He was a wonderful husband to his beloved Yolanda and a great father to his beloved children; as well as a beloved uncle and godfather to his nephew, George. Romeo was a loyal friend who never met a stranger.

Romeo loved the outdoors and hunting at the ranch with his boys. He had many friends that he enjoyed visiting always ready with his quick wit and a smile. Romeo will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Salinas; parents, Romeo G. and Elidia Salinas Sr.; and by his son, Raul G. Salinas.

Romeo is survived by his sons, Romeo III (Debbie), David G. Salinas; daughter, Lilia “Cookie” Renfrow; grandsons, Romeo G. Salinas IV, Jason R. Copeland, David Salinas Jr., Robert B. Renfrow; nephew, George A. (Alura) Chavez; great granddaughters, Bella and Ava Salinas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral procession will depart at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from the funeral home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 a.m.

Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
