Rogelio Jose "Pepe" Santos, 68, of Laredo, Texas, went to join our Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 05, 2015 peacefully and in the presence of family. Pepe was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, on March 19, 1947. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, in combat, during the Vietnam War from January 1969-January 1970. He was honored with an Army Commendation as well as other medals of honor during his tour in the Vietnam War. Pepe was married to Dora R. Santos (Ruiz) on May 23, 1998; they were married 17 years and spent 32 wonderfully blessed years together. Those who knew Pepe; knew how much he enjoyed hunting, John Wayne westerns, carne asadas, and spending time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and "Guelo". His diligence to industry encompassed every facet of life, including his work in Import/Export and Retail Merchandising including: V.I.P. Warehouse, Santos & Garza, and Corrigan Dispatch. Pepe is preceded in death by his parents, Raul C. Santos and Ofelia C. Santos; and Rosalio and Pura Ballesteros; sisters, Socorro Pearson, Carmen Ballesteros, Ofelia Mireya Santos, and Claudia E. Santos; and brothers, Alberto Ballesteros and Raul J. Santos. Pepe is survived by his wife, Dora; his three children, Rogelio J. (Minerva) Santos, Jr., Wendy (Efrain) Salazar, and Eric (John) Amozurrutia; his 6 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Pura B. (Frank) Averill, Irma (Vicente) Garza, Javier B. Santos, Raul C. Santos Jr., Alice (Gene) Ovalle, and Edelmiro (Paula) Santos. He is also survived by his stepmother, Alicia V. Santos; mother-in-law, Josephine Grace Ruiz; father-in-law, Leopoldo Ruiz, Jr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leopoldo (Carmen) Ruiz, III, Teresita ( Luis G.) Guerra, Clemente R. (Elma) Ruiz, Rosario A. (Ramiro I.) Galindo, Jesus J. (Monica) Ruiz, Juan L. (Lily) Ruiz, and Diana M. Santos; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 09, 2015, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Vigil for the Deceased & Blessed Rosary will commence at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, November 10, 2015. Funeral Procession will depart at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. The Rite of Committal & Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by: Fort Sam Houston Casualty Detail and the American Legion Post 59.
