ROGELIO JESUS “JESSE” SANCHEZ JR.
DECEMBER 20, 1988 – AUGUST 9, 2020
Rogelio Jesus “Jesse” Sanchez Jr., 31, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, August 9, 2020, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Jesse was born on December 20, 1988 to Rogelio J. Sanchez, Sr. and Adriana Gray. He was a 2008 graduate of J.W. Nixon High School, where he played on the varsity baseball team. He continued playing baseball at Laredo Community College in 2010-2011. Along with being an avid sportsman, he loved to fish at Lake Casa Blanca and play poker. Jesse was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His legacy will live on in his precious daughter, Olivia Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leonor and Inez A. Sanchez, Sr., great-grandfather Abraham Contreras; his great aunt Ignacia Solis; his uncle Inez A. Sanchez, Jr.; and his cousin Rolando E. “Roli” Sanchez, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents Rogelio J. Sanchez, Sr. and Adriana Gray, and his half-sister Amber Casarez. Also left to cherish his memory are his daughter Olivia Nicole, mother of his daughter Nancy Nicole Rodriguez, his loving aunts Norma (Rick) Cortez and Cindy Gray, and grandmother Arcelia (Alfredo+) Peña. He is further survived by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins of the Sanchez and Gray families.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, August 14, 2020 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels and Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, August 15, 2020 departing at 9:00 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to San Martin Catholic Church for a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.
All services will conclude at the church to proceed with a cremation at a later date.
Pallbearers will be: Mario Sanchez Sr., Rolando Sanchez Sr., Rene Peña, Noel Sanchez, Mario Sanchez Jr., J.J. Sanchez, Carlos Quiroga, and Abraham Quiroga.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. Mohsen Ghadimi-Mahani and staff at Guiding Light Hospice. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the LMC Infusion Center staff for always going above and beyond in caring for Jesse. A special gratitude to Almarosa Collazo, Felipe Zepeda and family for their kindness in our time of need.
