Rogelio Enrique Garcia
September 4, 1956-August 29, 2023
"With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of a remarkable man, Rogelio Enrique Garcia, on August 29, 2023, just days before his 67th birthday. Born September 4, 1956, Rogelio’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and an undying spirit. A proud graduate of Nixon High School 1976, and alumni of Lamar Middle School and Lamar Elementary in Laredo, Texas, he walked through life with an unmatched passion, touching many with his entrepreneurial spirit, love for cars, and generosity.
In his youth, Rogelio was a skilled baseball pitcher, and as the years passed, he channeled his dedication into becoming a loving father and husband. As an entrepreneur, he held a special place in his heart for small businesses, evidenced through his cherished car lot. A hobbyist painter, Rogelio’s canvases, often inspired by Bob Ross, brought joy to many friends and family as he gifted personalized paintings.
Rogelio’s life was not without its challenges, but he met them with resilience, namely on his battle against cancer. His teachings of happiness, peace, freedom and connection have left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know him. His gentle guidance, often encapsulated in words like "just be cool, man" will be deeply missed.
Rogelio was welcomed into the Lord’s embrace while peacefully holding the hands of his devoted wife and children, preceded in passing by his parents, Raul and Lupita Garcia.
His legacy will be carried on by his beloved wife, Erica Perdue Hodges; his children, Rogelio Christian (Alma) Garcia, Sherly Ann (Jonathan) Delgado, Evan Nicholas Hodges, and Somer Estelle Hodges (Cory Martin StClair); his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Isaiah Garcia, and Cole Martin Hodges StClair; siblings, Raul Garcia, Adela (†Faustino) Garza, and Jose “Pepe” (Tere) Garcia, as well as a numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who held him dear.
