Rodolfo Salinas, Jr.

April 15, 1936 — November 19, 2013

Gone yet not forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit lives within me, forever in my heart.. Unknown Rodolfo, better known as "Fofo" to his friends was born in Laredo to Rodolfo & Ana Maria Sanchez Salinas. Fofo graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, attended Texas A&M University and St. Mary's University from where he earned his degree. After living and working in Houston for several years he returned to Laredo and became a Real Estate Broker. He opened Salinas Realty Co. in 1966 at a time when there were only two Real Estate Companies in Laredo. Later in his career he became a Certified Commercial Appraiser and opened R. Salinas and Associates. He belonged to several professional organizations and was passionate about the business. Fofo never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went. He was kind, always smiling and was never one to complain about anything. He loved spending time with friends whether it be at the ranch or on the golf course. His greatest joy however, was being with his family and grandchildren on weekends and holidays. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rodolfo and Ana Maria Salinas, his grandparents, Francisco and Elvira Sanchez and San Juanita Salinas. He is survived by Martha Salinas, daughters, Rebecca (Jaime) Garcia, Jan Salinas of Austin, grandchildren, Andrea (Efrain) Aleman, Jaime E. Garcia, Jr. of Austin, Amy Juliana Garcia of Laredo and great granddaughter Juliana Sofia Aleman, sister-in-law Mary Margaret Rhea of Itasca and Michael J. Gutierrez of San Antonio. He is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives and many dear friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. A. Galan, Dr. E. Miranda, Dr. H. Varela, Dr. L. Benavides and the nursing staff at Doctor's Hospital for the excellent care during Rodolfo's illness. A very special thanks to Jaime Garcia, son-in-law, who was always there and so lovingly helped with his care and needs and to Raquel Zuniga who worked by his side for years and continued to be a good friend to he and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society by calling 1-800-227-2345, or Bethany House, 819 Hidalgo St., Laredo, TX 78040 or a charity of your choice. Funeral services for Rodolfo will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring @ Cortez. Visitation is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a rosary being recited at 8:15 a.m. A Holy Mass will commence at San Agustin Cathedral at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to meet at church.
