It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Roberto Granados, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated servant to both his family and country. Born on September 2, 1942, Mr. Granados lived a life defined by integrity, loyalty, and unwavering commitment. On August 4, 2024, he peacefully departed this world, mere weeks after the loss of his beloved wife, Maria, their union of 59 years a testament to their enduring love.
Throughout his life, Mr. Granados exemplified selflessness and duty. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, later transitioning to a distinguished career as a U.S. Customs Agent for three decades. His dedication to his profession and his country earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
A man of quiet strength and humble demeanor, Mr. Granados found his greatest joy in caring for his family and spending cherished moments with those he held dear. His unwavering presence and comforting guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Alicia Granados; his parents, Gregorio and Felix Zamora Granados; and his siblings, Emilia Trinidad, and Florentino Granados.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Roberto Roy (April) Granados; siblings, Susana Soria, Nicolas Granados, and Eliodoro Granados; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at the Veterans section of the Laredo City Cemetery.
Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, Laredo Veterans Honor Guard, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Honor Guard.
