Our loving mother, beloved grandmother, and caring sister, Rebeca Cigarroa Uribe-passed away in Laredo-on Saturday, May 12, 2012.-Rebeca Uribe was born on July 27, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas to Josefina and Joaquin Gonzalez Cigarroa. When she was young, her family moved to Laredo where she graduated from Martin High School and then proceeded to earn her pharmacy degree from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.-After graduation, Rebeca moved back to Laredo where she owned and operated her own pharmacy, MaReb Pharmacy for over 50 years.
Rebeca worked hard as a pharmacist in the family's Cigarroa Clinic and City Health Department, but she always felt her greatest contribution came from raising her eight children.-She passionately cultivated in her children, the value of hard work, the importance of a thoughtful gesture, and a love of learning and the arts.-This legacy will undoubtedly continue for generations to come.
Rebecca is survived by her brother, Dr. Joaquin Gonzalez Cigarroa of Laredo.-She is also survived by her children, many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Rebeca's surviving children include: Dr. Rebecca Uribe Garza of Laredo;-Dr. Josie Cigarroa of San Antonio;-Dr. Marco Uribe of Austin; Annie (Randy) Turner of Boerne; Dr. Adriana (Kevin) Hohl of Middletown, Maryland; Sandra Uribe (Glenn) Gross of Pearland; and, Monica (Barry) Nanez of Laredo. She will also be dearly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and friends that adored her. Rebeca was tenderly cared for by Carmen Llanito and Estefana Montelongo for over 40 years and Sylvia Campos and Martina Lopez for the last couple of years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Joaquin Gonzlaez Cigarroa Sr. in 1964; her husband, Marco Uribe in 1973; her brother,-Dr. Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa in 1973;-her mother, Josefina Gonzalez Cigarroa in 1996 and her daughter, Cordy Uribe Robeau in 2004.
Pallbearers are:-Alexander Knapp, Marco Uribe III, Randy Turner, Adam Robeau, Glenn Gross, and Barry Nanez.
