Raul Dominguez Sr., a dedicated member of the community, passed away on June 13, 2024. Born on September 17, 1952, Raul spent his life pursuing higher education and contributing to the betterment of those around him.
After graduating from Nixon High School in 1970, Raul continued his academic journey at The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a master's degree in pharmacy in the class of 1978. Furthering his education, Raul attended medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico. His commitment to education continued throughout his life as he supported and cheered for the UT Longhorns, always staying connected to his alma mater.
Raul's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of various businesses, including Dominguez Bros. Contractors, which he inherited from his father, and Krystal Blue Pools. His passion for giving back to the community was evident through his roles as the Director of Communities in Schools, Director at Laredo Job Corp, Supervisor of Inventory Parts & Safety/ Transportation for LISD, where he impacted the lives of many individuals. He also played an integral role in the revival of Holding Institute, a GED school that was on its way of being permanently closed. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Z. and Baudilia Dominguez, his siblings, Bertha Dominguez, Jose Z. Dominguez, Jr., Roberto Dominguez, Jesus "Chuy" Dominguez, and Mario Dominguez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Krystal (Tarandez) Dominguez-Graves, Jacqueline De La 0, Raul (Gabriella) Dominguez, Jr., and Carlos Garcia- Dominguez; his grandchildren, Makailah Deshay, Tarandez Graves, Jr., Eliana De La O, Catalina Jae Dominguez, and Jayson Gabriel Dominguez; his lifelong friend, Helen Garcia; his ex-wife and mother of his two children, Rosario Alcantar Dominguez (Krystal and Raul, Jr): his siblings, Zulema Dominguez Leal, and Elva Dominguez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, June 20, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, June 21, 2024 departing at 9 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to honor Raul's memory by wearing UT burnt orange colors.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Raul Dominguez, Jr., Carlos Garcia-Dominguez, Gabriel Arrocha, Tarandez Graves, Jose A. Menchaca, Mario Dominguez, Jr., Humberto Leal, and Raul Leal.
