 RAQUEL URIBE ZAPATA

February 1, 1929 – October 24, 2023

Raquel U. Zapata, 94, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, peacefully at home.

Mrs. Raquel U. Zapata was born in San Ygnacio, Texas and was raised in Laredo, Texas. She was a graduate of Martin H.S. and Texas A & I Kingsville, where she earned a degree in elementary education. She was employed by Laredo Independent School District as a 4^th grade Spanish teacher at Alma Pierce Elementary School. A school teacher for 35 years, retired May 1986. Mrs. Raquel U. Zapata was a European traveler.

She is the last of 8 children of Amador and Maria de Jesus Uribe. Loving mother will be greatly missed by her only son as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son David R. Zapata, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is now home with her beloved husband in heaven, Francisco “Frank” Zapata. Where they will be forever together.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023 from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
