Ramiro Ramirez, 94, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Ramiro Ramirez, a proud Korean War veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Army for four years, demonstrating the same dedication and commitment that defined his entire life. Ramiro was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, cherished by his family for his unwavering work ethic and devotion.
Known for his strong character, Ramiro was an incredibly hard worker who took pride in everything he did. His love for sports was a significant part of his life; he was a passionate fan of the Houston Astros and enjoyed watching games whenever he could. Ramiro also played softball for many years, competing with various teams throughout the city and building lasting friendships along the way.
He will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for the love he gave to his family and the joy he found in the game of sports. Ramiro leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a love for life that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Ramirez and Florinda Ramirez; his siblings, Abraham Ramirez, Candelario Ramirez, Luis Ramirez, and Virginia Aguilar.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage, Oralia Ramirez; his children, Ramiro (Leticia) Ramirez, Jr., Laura († Roberto) De Luna, Elsa (Robert) Frausto, David (Lisa) Ramirez, and Oralia (William) Apodaca; his grandchildren, Monica (Fred) Forman, Melissa (Daniel) Santos, Claudia (Antonio) Rodriguez, Patricia (Manny) Villarruel, Robert (Gabriela) Frausto, Jr., Vanessa Y. Frausto (Noe Garcia), David Duve (Alyssa) Ramirez, Jr., Jaclyn (Ty) Hammonds, William (Meagan) Apodaca, Jr., Ryan Apodaca, Eric (Leah) Apodaca, and Joseph Apodaca; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, January 24, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, January 25, 2025 where a Chapel Service will be conducted at 10 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Veterans Section of the Laredo City Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
