Prudencia Snchez, "Tencha", 85, as she was affectionately called, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at her place of residence surrounded by her family. Tencha was a self-employed businesswoman who operated her grocery store (I.Y. Snchez Gro.) for over 40 very proud years. She was a special woman who always had time for anyone who needed her assistance. She was an avid cook and always had food for anyone who asked. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Snchez was preceded in death by her late husband of 51 years, Rmulo, daughter, Irma Yolanda Garza and Gerardo Snchez. She is survived by her sons: Gilberto (Maria de Lourdes "Lulu") Snchez, Ricardo (Marcia) Snchez from Houston, Rmulo (Luca) Snchez, Jr., from Brownsville, Javier (Elaine) Snchez and daughter Leticia Snchez. Also surviving her are her grandchildren: Sallia M. (Homero) Garza-Salinas, Juan L. (Roco) Garza, Juan G. (Guadalupe) Garza, Laura "Kristy" Garza, Gilbert (Terri) Snchez, Jr., Jessica Snchez, Veronica (Juan) Villarreal, Iza (Jesus) Banda, Ricardo Snchez, Jr., Melissa Snchez, Alexia Snchez, Patty Snchez, Victor J. Snchez, Rebekka E. Snchez and Meagan R. Snchez; including 13 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and family. The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers Nancy Trejo and Maria Del Refugio (Cuca) Villanueva, her comadre and special friend Justina Anaya. Also a very special thanks to Dr. Carlos N. Hornedo for caring and always being there to assist her with her medical needs and Mr. Eduardo Ramos from Merida Health Care for going the extra mile. Vigil for Mrs. Sanchez will be held today Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez, a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A funeral procession will depart at 9 a.m. from Joe Jackson Funeral Chapels to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Juan L. Garza, Jr., Juan G. Garza, Gilberto Snchez, Jr., Victor J. Snchez, Homero Salinas and Estevan R. Bonilla- Snchez. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gilberto Snchez, Ricardo Snchez, Rmulo Snchez, Jr., Javier Snchez, and Leticia Snchez.
