Pedro Morales Rodela, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16th, 2023, at the age of 88 in Laredo, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children at the time of his passing.
Pedro was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. Mexico and was the fifth and youngest child to his parents, Enrique Morales and Julia Rodela. He was preceded in passing by his parents and his 4 brothers, Enrique, Alfredo, Rodolfo, and Hector. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen Morales Salinas and his children and their spouses: Pedro, Rafael & Araceli Morales, Carmen Morales & Scott Young, Ricardo & Carol Morales, and Anabel Morales & Frederick-Sebastian Krause. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ivana, Rafael, Marcelo, Luke, Kioko, and Siena; as well as his extended family and friends.
After graduating from St. Augustine High School in Laredo, TX, Pedro went on to join the US Army at the age of 22. During these years he was stationed in Europe, where he developed a love for travel. Pedro and Carmen were married for 60 wonderful years and over this time they resided in Nuevo Laredo, Los Angeles, CA and, finally, Laredo TX for the last 50 years. Together they enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards, meeting for coffee with friends and spending time with their children.
Pedro was an avid baseball fan and he himself played for many years in amateur leagues in Nuevo Laredo, where he picked up his nickname, “Palema”. In 2021, he was recognized by the Liga Master de Beisbol de Laredo, TX for his impact and success during his years playing ball. He also loved history and listening to Mexican trio music. We will always remember Pedro for his warm smile, great sense of humor, unconditional love for his friends and family and his insatiable appetite for life.
