ORALIA MATA
August 27, 1940- December 13, 2022
Oralia T. Mata, 82, peacefully passed away at Harlingen Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Oralia was born on August 27, 1940, to Cleofas and Rufina Trevino.
She was a long-time resident of Mirando City, Texas, and for the last few years of her life she resided in Elgin, Texas, and Harlingen, Texas. Oralia was a woman of God who put her family first. She lived her life led by prayer and faith. She was a prayer warrior who prayed for her children and the world daily. She was blessed with a large loving family. She married the love of her life, Jose Mata in April of 1958. Together they had five children, who she leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, Laura Mata Tenbroek, Diana Mata, Johnny (Bonnie) Mata, Jeannette Mata (Robert) Black, and Guillermo (Claudia) Mata; twelve grandchildren, Nicole, Abba, Joe, Marcus, Shalina, George, Andrew, Sheribiya, Isamar, Laura Ashley, Matthew (†), and Eric; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jose Mata; sisters, Margarita Lerma and Guadalupe T. Salinas; and by her parents, Cleofas and Rufina Trevino. She is further survived by her siblings, Diamantina (Jimmy) Garza, Maria De Jesus (Adolio) Vasquez, Alcaria (Arturo) Jasso, and Cleofas (Angelina) Trevino Jr.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, December 18, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, December 19, 2022 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Johnny Mata, Guillermo Mata, Andrew Mata, Eric Mata, Marcus Lopez, and Kevin Foley. Alternates will be Robert Black and Rudy Garcia.
Special thanks goes out to Jovita and the Staff at El Cielo Adult Day Care where she happily went daily to sing, dance, and paint. They treated her with the utmost care and respect. The family is also full of gratitude for her provider, Veronica Limas, of Mercedes for not only providing excellent care, but offering her friendship. They shared many laughs and conversations and watched black and white cowboy movies daily.
