OLIVIA ESTER GARCIA JULY 11, 1928 - FEBRUARY 18, 2015 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm23:8 Olivia Ester Garcia, 86, joined her eternal rest with her Heavenly Father on February 18, 2015, in Laredo, Texas. She was born in Alice, Texas, on July 11, 1928. Olivia Ester was a lifelong resident of Laredo, Texas. She devoted her life to helping the Church and to educating our children as a Teacher and Principal. She served as a Eucharist Minister at Holy Redeemer Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She served as a Principal at McDonald Elementary, Bruni Elementary, and Tarver Elementary. Olivia Ester is preceded in death by her loving parents, Rafael Miguel Garcia and Olivia Salazar, her generous brothers, Jose Angel Garcia and Rene Mario Garcia, her caring sister-in-law, Carmen Garcia, and her affectionate nephew, Gabriel Garcia. She is survived by her nieces, Melva Rosa (Juan Carlos) Sanchez and Mara Isabel Garcia, her nephews, Rene Mario (Janette) Garcia, Jr. and Rafael Garcia, and her sister-in-law, Rosa Meza Garcia. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary for Olivia Ester will begin at 5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 departing the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1602 Garcia Street, for a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Father Francisco Leon at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
