OFFICER RAMIRO “RAMA” PAREDES, JR.

Officer Ramiro “Rama” Paredes, Jr., joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 at the age of 50. Officer Paredes was a well-respected veteran who proudly served and defended his country during his tour with the U.S. Army before joining the Laredo Police Department where he continued serving his beloved community for over twenty-six dedicated years. He provided exceptional service to his force family as the Region II - Cleat Regional Director and served as the current President of the Laredo Police Officers Association (LPOA). He will be greatly missed by those whom he defended, protected, and served.
He was preceded in passing by his father, Ramiro Paredes, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Domingo and Angelita Paredes; maternal grandparents, Teofilo and Silvestre Nuñez Quiñones; and sister, Norma Alicia Paredes.
Left to cherish his memory are: his loving sons, Ramiro Paredes, III. and Andres Paredes; mother of his children, Adriana Alicia Diaz; mother, Maria Alicia Quiñones; and siblings, Isabel Escamilla, Ruben (Juanita) Gallardo, Javier (Esperanza) Paredes, Gloria Paredes, Angelita Paredes, Sandra (Joey Alejandro) Molina, Jr., and Esteban (Maria) Paredes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Monday, February 13th, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd. Dismissal from visitation will be called promptly at 10 a.m. Funeral Services will continue at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1704 Sandman St.; where family and friends are invited to meet by 10:30 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Following Mass, dismissal will be called promptly at 12 p.m. Funeral Services will continue at the front of the Laredo Police Department, 4712 Maher Avenue; where family and friends are invited to meet by 12:30 p.m.
**Private Procession** will be provided by the LPD Motor Squad who will be escorting Officer Paredes’s hearse and family limousine to the ceremony location. Law Enforcement Units will follow behind the family limousine.
The Final Ceremony Honoring the Life of Officer Paredes will be held at 1 p.m. at the front of the Laredo Police Department. All Funeral Services will conclude following the ceremony.
Military Honors will be provided by: the American Legion Post 59, the U.S. Army Honor Guard, & the Laredo Police Department. The American Legion Post 59 will be performing the Gun Salute, the U.S. Army Honor Guard will be performing the Flag Detail, and the Laredo Police Department will be performing the Presentation of Colors.
Rite of Committal & Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
Pallbearers will be: Sergio Reyes, Jaime “Jimmy” Magaña, Rene Herrera, Eduardo Gonzalez, Jr., Samuel Escamilla, Danny Medina, Jordan Molina, and Esteban Paredes.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: the Laredo Police Department, the Laredo Police Officers Association, the American Legion Post 59, and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
