Ray B. Pea, 67, a long time Laredo resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 11th, 2014 in the Serendipity Assisted Living Home in Austin, Texas. Born on Aug. 22nd, 1947 in Nuevo Laredo, MX, he was the son of Bernardo G. Pea and Maria Del Socorro Salinas Pea. For over 33 years, "Peita" served his community as a police officer with both the Laredo Police Department and the Laredo County Sheriff's Department. Ray was an incredibly generous and outgoing individual who was very involved within the Laredo community throughout his long tenure within the department. Some of his accomplishments included Blue Santa, Knights of Columbus, and involvement in Laredo baseball little league. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Del Refugio Saenz Pea "Cuqui." He is survived by his two brothers Raymundo (Bertha) Pea of Laredo, TX, and Ramon (Rebecca) Pea of Laredo, TX; son Ray B. Pea Jr. of Austin, TX, and his two daughters Carol (Micah) Marin of Fort Worth, TX, and Michelle (Joseph) Cottrell of Fort Worth, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27th, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Everyone who will be attending is encouraged to please meet at church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established. Those wishing to make contributions can walk into any local Wells Fargo Bank and donate under the account name of Officer Ray B. Pea, Sr. Memorial Fund.
