OCTAVIO MANUEL “TAVO” GARZA
January 14, 1944 – July 23, 2023
Octavio Manuel “Tavo” Garza, 79, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and his 5 boyz whom he adored. Tavo was one of a kind. He spent part of his afternoons at the Adoration Chapel every day and prayed for everyone that was in need of prayers and made sure he checked up on each one of them. Everyone he met felt his warmth and pureness of heart. A true man of God that made one gravitate towards him. His love for his family and his passion for living will live on those that had the pleasure of knowing him. Mr. Garza was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force and served as a volunteer with Border Olympics-Baseball.
He was preceded in passing by: his parents, Octavio Garza and Maria Luisa Garza, siblings, Anna Ellis and Horacio Garza.
Left to cherish his memory are: his loving spouse, Martha Garza; children, Shirley (Don) Beyer, Octavio M. (Edna) Garza, III., and Oracio “OJ” Garza; grandchildren (5 Boyz), Christian Anthony (Briana) Beyer, Justin Louis Beyer, Tyler James Beyer, Octavio M. Garza, IV., and Orlando Misael Garza; great-grandson, Raiden Jaxson Beyer; siblings, Hector (Nellie) Garza, Magdalena (Felix) Gonzalez, Rosalinda (Ralph) Reyes, and Ricardo (Beth) Garza; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday evening, July 26, 2023 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday morning, July 27, 2023 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m.
Full Military Honors will be provided by Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and presentation of U.S. Flag by the U.S. Airforce followed after mass.
Pallbearers will be: (5 Boyz) Christian Anthony Beyer, Justin Louis Beyer, Tyler James Beyer, Octavio M. Garza, IV., Orlando Misael Garza, Felix Javier Gonzalez, Jr., Andres Sillas, Jr., and Jorge Sillas.
A private cremation will take place at a later date.
