Norma Lucila Zuniga Benavides, 90, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 06, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Guillermo Benavides Garza; her daughter, Anna Claudia Benavides; her brothers, Eduardo Zuniga, Oscar Zuniga, Guillermo Zuniga, Raul Zuniga, and Alejandro Zuniga; and her sisters, Blanca Azios, Margarita Rae, Marta Zuniga Martinez, and Teresa Dent.

She is survived by: her daughter, Norma Benavides Hunt; sons, Guillermo (Sonia) Benavides Z. and Manuel A. "Gero" (Elizabeth) Benavides; grandchildren, Guillermo R. Benavides, Mario M. Benavides, Alfonso F. Benavides, Hillary Ann Hunt, Guillermo F. Benavides, Alejandro F. Benavides, Damiana A. Benavides, Adan M. Benavides, Lisbeth A. Benavides, and Emille N. Benavides; as well as by several great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother and sisters, Alfonso (Dora Alicia) Zuniga, Sylvia Zuniga, and Florencia Zuniga Trevio; sisters-in-law, Sandra Blackshear, and Alicia Zuniga; brothers-in-law, Roberto Martinez, and Clyde Dent; and by numerous nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and friends.

A special thank you to her lifetime physician, Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa, and Bright Star Home Health for their recent care and attention. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Isabel Rodriguez who lovingly cared for Anna Claudia Benavides throughout her life.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, April 08, 2016 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary for the repose of her soul will be offered at 8:15 a.m.

The funeral procession will depart at 8:40 a.m. to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Immediately following the services held at the cemetery, all extended family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life memorial gathering and reception which will be held at The Laredo Flower Market-The Garden, 2801 E. Frost St.
