January 4, 1924 - May 21, 2016

Nora U. Bruni entered into eternal peace at her residence on Saturday, May 21, 2016. She has been a life-long resident of Laredo. Her parents were originally from San Ignacio, Texas but relocated to Laredo when she was a young girl. She was the last of Enrique and Clotilde Uribe's children to pass away.

Mrs. Bruni is survived by her son, Roberto Bruni, daughter-in-law, Tracy Bruni (Oscar), and grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Bruni, of Englewood, Colorado, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar A. Bruni, son, Oscar A. Bruni,Jr., her parents Enrique and Clotilde Uribe, siblings Lauro, Velia and Alonzo, brothers and their wives Ciro and Maria, Marco and Rebecca, and Victor and Angelina Uribe. Her husband's parents were Antonio J. and Teresa E. Bruni. His siblings and spouses were Anthony J. and Esther C. Bruni, Jr., Charles H. and Angelina, Edwardo and Anna T. Bruni, Norma and Manuel Arechiga, and Sara B. Magnon.

Mrs. Bruni graduated from Martin High School where she was a champion softball player. She served as WBCA's Pocahontas in 1953 and 1956 and was active in the Princess Pocahontas Council during its inception. She was also very active with the St. Joseph's Academy Parent Council while her sons attended the all-boy's Catholic school. She worked for Guajardo Motor Company and Sames Motor Company. She was also owner of the women's specialty shop, The Bon Ton, and retired from Ward Jackson Insurance Agency.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leo Cigarroa and Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa for their devoted care as well as the compassionate and attentive staff from CIMA Hospice.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd.

Funeral procession will then depart from the funeral home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will then follow to the Cavalry Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Andrew Bruni, Carlo Hein, Jerry Gaona, Eddie Villarreal, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Jose Ramon Torres.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to the American Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
