NELDA MARIE LOPEZ

Nelda Marie Lopez passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016. She was 43. A lifelong Laredoan, Nelda was adored by many friends and family members. She loved to laugh, sing, dance, watch her DVD's and attend parties. Those who knew her, will long remember her bubbly personality, sense of humor and competitive spirit.

From a young age, Nelda competed in the Special Olympics and won many medals. Nelda Marie always remembered the birthdays of her family and friends. She was very good at reminding everyone, starting about a month in advance, when her birthday was approaching. Nelda was quite the diplomat too. When asked who her favorite brother or favorite sister was, Nelda would say "all of them", especially if they were close enough to hear her response. She was friendly to everyone and easily started conversations with strangers. Nelda always shared her beautiful smile and was quick to give a hug. She was very "cariosa", especially with pets and babies. She had a gentle and kind heart. Nelda was a graduate of Nixon High School and loved her Nixon Mustangs.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ruben Lopez, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Jose Maria and Maria Lopez; maternal grandparents, Alonzo and Maria de Jesus Sanchez; as well as by other beloved family members.

She is survived by her mother, Maria Hilda Sanchez Lopez; siblings, Ruben (Roberta) Lopez, Jr., David J. (Laura) Lopez, Sr., Norma Lopez-Medina (+Mike), Oscar (Adriana) Lopez, Mari (Rudy) Alvarado, Diana (Benny) Molina; nieces and nephews, Norma A. Martinez, Selina M. (Armando) Rodriguez, Melissa E. Lopez, Leonel Garcia, III, David J. Lopez, Jr., Ari Bermea-Mendoza (Lalo), Triana L. Lopez, Oscar O. Lopez II, Rene R. Lopez, Randy Bermea, Katrina A. Lopez, Gilbert Bermea, Sabrina M. Lopez, Karina L. Lopez, Nicolas S. Lopez, Bernardo Molina, Isabella R. Lopez, Miguel A. Molina, Alejandro Molina, Daniel Alvarado, Adrienne Alvarado, and Monica Alvarado, Tanni, Andrea and Armando Rodriguez. Also surviving Nelda are many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary and Vigil will commence at 7 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Family respectfully requests all attending to meet at church.

Private Inurnment will be held at a later date.
