Minerva Ruiz

Minerva Rene Ruiz, 79, joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

"Gera" as she was affectionately known, was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She dedicated herself to helping many in need, and was a member of several volunteer programs which included Meals on Wheels and the San Antonio Food Bank. She was a devout Christian who was a proud member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas; who was also very active in their church choir. She worked as a bank teller for many faithful years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lilia Antonia Martinez; father, Jose V. Ruiz; and sisters, Rosita Ruiz and Teresa Cruz.

Minerva is survived by her siblings, Josefina Johnson, Jose Luis Ruiz, Lilia Amanda Baker, Maria Lamar Ruiz, and Ricardo Ruiz; as well as by her children and grandchildren, Patricio Gustavo (Gloria) Mendoza and their sons, Christopher Patrick, Anthony Evan, and Stephen James Mendoza, and grandson, Patrick Mendoza, Jr., Adriana Lamar (Shari) Mendoza, Octavio Luis (Mina) Mendoza and sons David Jaime and Joseph Anthony Mendoza, as well as Roxanne Mendoza and children, Brittany Leigh McGoldrick-Alcantar, Kimberly Adriana Mendoza, Amanda Nicole Acosta, and David Acosta. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. John Neumann Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Memorial Gardens of Laredo Cemetery.
