Michael Daniel

Michael Glen Daniel, 64, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Michael was born in Odessa, Texas, on January 5th, 1956 to parents Fred and Viola Daniel. He graduated from Buena Vista High School in Imperial, Texas. Soon after graduation, Michael attended both Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas where he received his bachelor’s Degree and Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas where he received his Master’s Degree.

Michael worked for Texas Gulf for a number of years before he began his teaching career. He was a dedicated educator for over 35 years. Michael was proud to educate Laredo’s youth at J.W. Nixon High School and at Texas A&M International University.

He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed ranching, hunting, fishing, and camping. Michael loved being in the company of his loved ones and relished spending time with his family and having cookouts on the weekends and holidays. He had a special place in his heart and absolutely adored his faithful four legged companion, Biscuit. Michael will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Daniel and his nephew, Josh Carrell.

Survived by his beloved wife who loved him very much, Bertha Benavides; parents, Fred and Viola Daniel of Mullin, TX; sister, Cathy (Alvie) Carrell of Mertzon, TX; sisters-in-law, Marie (Jorge) Garza of Laredo, TX, Sandra (David) McCain of Laredo, TX, Idalia Benavides of Laredo, TX, Mandy Neumann of Laredo, TX, and Helen (Daniel) Schoonveld of San Antonio, TX. He is further survived by his nephews, Shawn (Summer) Daniel of Richmond, TX, Kenneth Carrell of San Angelo, TX, Davy (Linsey) Daniel of Wall, TX, and John Michael Daniel of Hawley, TX, and Jaime Gonzalez, Jr. of Laredo, TX; nieces, Nelly (Lloyd) Samples, Cristal (Steve) Padilla, and Danya (Abel) De La Rosa all of Laredo TX; and his loyal companion, Biscuit., as well as 16 great-nephews and nieces, numerous other relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday evening, September 5, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of Duren Cemetery in Mills County, Texas.
