MERCEDES GONZALEZ August 24, 1925 - June 27, 2015 Mercedes Gonzalez, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather joined our Lord in Heaven on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the age of 89. Mr. Gonzalez was born in New Braunfels, Texas and had been a long life resident of Laredo, Texas. He worked for Casso Guerra for many years until his retirement. He loved his family, loved to cook carne asada, and enjoyed playing in a softball league throughout his life. Mr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Idolina Gonzalez, parents Petra and Braulio Gonzalez, son Merced Gonzalez, Jr. and siblings Juanita Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, Isidoro Gonzalez, and Gregorio "Goyo" Gonzalez. He is survived by his loving children; Sergio Omar Gonzalez, Blanca Alicia (Mike) Kennedy, Maria Esther (Carl) Scruggs and Roberto (Blanca) Gonzalez and his grandchildren, Melinda, Alex, and Melissa Gonzalez, Michael James Kennedy, Christopher Brenton and Anthony Ryan Scruggs, Joshua Robert and Jonathan Aaron Gonzalez, great grandchild Michael Kaesyn Kennedy also, numerous other relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 1, 2015 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to San Jose Catholic Church for a Holy mass at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
