On the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16, 2014 and in the presence of his loving family and friends, God called to his heavenly home, MCPO Francis L. Wawroski, Jr., US Navy Ret. He now joins his relatives and friends in heaven and is now at peace. A proud veteran, Master Chief Wawroski served a tour of duty in the US Army during the Vietnam War immediately after graduating from Southwest Texas State University. After being honorably discharged from the US Army, Master Chief Wawroski enlisted in the US Naval reserve where he proudly continued serving for 32 years, including a tour of active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Master Chief Wawroski was also a long-term educator, retiring after 33 years of faithful service to the Laredo Independent School District as a teacher, administrator and mentor to fellow colleagues and students alike. Not only was Master Chief Wawroski an honorable educator, he also held his civic involvements in high priority. Master Chief Wawroski was a longtime supporter of various community organizations throughout his lifetime, most recently with the Laredo Veteran's Coalition. Master Chief Wawroski was preceded in death by his parents: TSGT Francis L. Wawroski, Sr. US Air Force Ret., and Dora Dixon Wawroski; parents-in-law: Manuel and Francisca Zapata Gamboa; brother: Louis E. Wawroski. Master Chief Wawroski is survived by his loving and caring wife of 41 years of marriage: Francisca Gamboa Wawroski; daughters: Judith (John) Wawroski-Addison, Valerie (Rolando) Wawroski-Rodriguez, and Dr. Patricia (Raul) Wawroski-Mendoza. He is further survived by his first granddaughter and joy of his life: Olivia Marie Rodriguez. Master Chief Wawroski is also survived by his brother: MSG John W. (Connie) Wawroski US Army Ret.; sister: Sandra M. Wawroski; and a foster brother: Eugene Perales. In addition to his immediate family, Master Chief Wawroski is further survived by other relatives and many beloved friends. The family will receive condolences the evening of Sunday the 20th of July of 2014 from 4 to 9 in the evening in the chapel at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary shall be recited at 7 in the evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday the 21st of July of 2014 at 8:30 in the morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2219 Galveston St. The funeral cortege will depart the funeral chapel at 8 in the morning. Rite of Committal and Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at Shelter 2 - Section 93 - Graveside 14 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209 at 11:15 in the morning on Tuesday the 22nd of July of 2014.
