MARTHA B. GUERRA OCTOBER 31, 1927 - OCTOBER 24, 2015 Martha B. Guerra, 87, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was born on October 31, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas; later moving to Laredo, Texas. She married her loving husband of 66 years, Refugio Guerra, Jr. on May 29, 1949. Martha's passion was playing piano for family and friends. She played for many years at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church while her husband sang in the choir. Martha also wrote poetry which won her accolades and awards. Reading the bible and preparing for her celestial trip was always her priority. Martha leaves warm memories and wisdom to her family and friends; she will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacobo and Soledad Manrique Barrientos; sisters, Ana Barrientos, Jane Goldstein; brothers, Manuel (Margie) Barrientos, Frank (Margaret) Barrientos, Joe (Laura) Barrientos; and her granddaughter Lori Martha Guerra. She is survived by her loving husband, Refugio Guerra, Jr.; sons, Luis (Sharon) Guerra, Samuel (Maricela) Guerra; six grandchildren, Heather G. Perez, Ian Guerra, Amber Guerra Garcia, Haley Guerra Cortez, Samuel J. Guerra, Jr., Cameron Guerra; four great-greatgrandchildren; and sister Lucy B. Gutierrez. She is also survived by other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary will be recited at 7 in the evening. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 departing the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
