MARINA MARLYNN GARZA

JULY 29, 1988 – MAY 19, 2020

Her journey began on July 29, 1988 in Laredo, Texas, but was called home at the tender age of 31, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. That day Heaven gained an angel when Jesus opened His arms and welcomed her into his heavenly kingdom. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.

Marina was a beloved daughter to Rufino and Blanca M. Garza, a loving mother to Koraline Jay and Izabella Kay, a devoted wife to Kristian, a loving sister to Ivy Denise and Edgardo, and was a good friend to many. Her family was the center of her universe and she cherished them with all her heart.

Sadly, she fought a short battle with cancer and left behind countless loved ones whom adored her dearly. She will be remembered for her warm and radiant smile and joyful spirit.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Rufino Garza Villarreal and Maria Enriqueta Garza Alameda; and by her maternal grandfather, Rodolfo V. Mercado.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Kristian D. Cantu, beloved daughters; Koraline Jay and Izabella Kay; parents, Rufino Garza Alameda and Blanca Marina Garza Mercado; brother, Edgardo (Mayte) Garza; sister, Ivy Denise (Juan Jose Jr.) Romero; as well as by her niece, Abby Garza; and nephews; Emiliano Garza and Juan Jose Romero, III. She is further survived by her aunts and uncles, Lupita (Gilberto †) Mercado Garza, Cynthia Mercado Rodriguez, Veronica (Fred) Mercado Payle, Armando (Alicia) Garza, Heriberto (Tere) Garza, Ernesto (Carmelita) Garza, Natalia Garza, Amalia Garza, and Margarita Garza; cousins, Gilberto Garza, Jr., Rodolfo A. Garza, Alexsandra G. Garza, Fernando O. Garza, and Frederick Joseph Payle; in addition to numerous other relatives and friends.
